It has been said that 80% of what we learn is visual. Our human brain is capable of absorbing 36,000 visual images every hour. One of the most effective way of memorizing is an almost four-decade old technique of creating mind maps to plan projects at different levels.
Mind mapping, a visual creative process has been introduced by Late Mr. Tony Buzan, an English Psychologist. This was a result of the magnitude of tasks that he undertook on a daily basis. Since then the concept has grown tremendously across the world. Extremely popular in Europe mind mapping is seeing a good growth in Singapore and catching up in other parts of the world as well. Since I have met Mr. Tony, I am highly inspired by his idea as it affects many people’s life on personal and professional level too. I am proud that I am able to continue his legacy.
Mind Mapping is a versatile technique that help us not only to overcome thinking or writing block, but adds creativity within our thought process. It is a picture to picture similar representation to our brain cells. Since our brain likes to seek the information in a visual way, the process transforms our black and white thoughts to something very accessible so all the information can be captured easily by our brain. It involves a creative technique for remembering and organizing ideas. It’s also useful for coming up with new and better ideas for creative projects.
Mind mapping helps you to memorize things easily and effortlessly. It uses both side of our brain – left and right, which means it puts brain in to Metacognition, this also helps us to fight against Alzheimer’s as our brain cells are active. It’s a power of association, plus power of being mindful, to do something and associate it with a picture.
For Entrepreneurs, they can use Mind mapping in different areas; first to boost creativity, to prepare business plans, marketing plans or any other business goals they want to achieve. Through this process, it includes a variety of features to boost your creative thinking and capture your ideas in a visual and engaging way.
One can also use Mind mapping for creative writing or while giving away a speech since our brain helps us to associate our way of thinking.
By using Mind mapping, you are able to put ideas and one word will lead to another, helping you to frame a sentence. After all, your goal is to unlock creative thinking.
Being a native Arabic speaker myself, I decided to develop a product which is helpful for many people, it is to learn about spoken Arabic by using Mind mapping. This helps us to frame sentences in an informative way and to communicate better in Arabic language. Also learning more than one language, helps your brain to be more active.
Lastly, I would like to conclude by saying that Mind mapping helps you to structure your information effectively, boost productivity, improves reading more comprehensively, to inspire creativity and to improve memory and recall.
